At the heart of Bayer’s commitment to society is the active role we play in supporting people and communities in the areas surrounding our primary business locations, as well as solving pressing social challenges.
Established in 1964 as Monsanto Fund, the foundation served as a global philanthropic leader supporting 47 countries on six continents through 2018. With the acquisition of Monsanto by Bayer, the entity was renamed Bayer Fund in 2019.
In January 2020, Bayer Fund incorporated the activities of Bayer USA Foundation, founded in 1953, continuing its legacy of community engagement and the commitment to enhancing the quality of life in communities where our customers and employees live and work. In line with the new entity’s mission, Bayer Fund will focus its resources to solely serve communities in the United States.
Today, Bayer Fund prides itself on being an innovative philanthropic leader, providing millions of dollars annually in two primary priority areas.
Food & Nutrition – Food security and reliable access to healthy, nutritious food are ongoing problems in our nation. From supplying food directly, to providing education and resources that help improve nutrition, reduce obesity and support families, Bayer Fund grantees are working to combat hunger and malnutrition.
Health & Wellness – Education. Prevention. Assistance. These are three key tenets of Bayer Fund’s investments in health and wellness. We support services and programs for those dealing with cancer and cardiovascular disease.
Bayer Fund’s primary focus is to achieve maximum impact by assisting families in under-resourced communities. We have invested millions in these communities, including grants totaling more than $12.1 million in 2023 alone.
We primarily concentrate our efforts in rural communities and the geographies where the majority of our employees live and work: St. Louis, MO, Northern New Jersey, Pittsburgh, PA, and Berkeley, CA.
Bayer Fund is governed by a team of dedicated employees who are passionate about improving the quality of life for those in need in our communities.
